1. Are you connected to your home network?
If you do not see the wifi icon, go to SETTINGS > Wi-Fi and make sure it is in the ON position. When you turn it on, the iPad will begin to look for your network. Tap on your network name and enter its password (if needed). Once found, a checkmark will appear in front of the name.
Look to make sure you now have the wifi icon in a top corner of your iPad.

2. Are you logged into the district filter?
Check that you can access a website. Do this step even if you're trying to use an app like Schoology, RAZ Kids or Khan Academy.
Open Safari and go to “google.com” on your iPad.

What is the filter?
All student iPads are using a filter that allows us to monitor/block inappropriate content by device both inside and away from District 34. While the filter allows us to monitor and block both within apps and while on the Internet, it is not 100% (no filter is). We always recommend supervising children while they are using the Internet. This filter occasionally requires students to log in with their district username and password to access websites and apps that require internet access, including email. When students open Safari it may prompt them to login. |

4. Still having trouble? Turn Wifi on and off again.
Turn your wifi off and on again. Then, open Safari and go to google.com to see if your device is now connected to Wifi.
5. Still can't get anything to work? Check your home router.
- On your iPad, tap Settings > Wifi.
- Tap on the icon of an "i in a circle" to the right of your home Wifi.
- Make sure your home network IP address is listed.
- If the IP address is blank or starts with a 169, it is unable to obtain an IP address from your home router.
- Restart your home router. An adult should be the only person to restart it!
6. Still not successful? Clear history, cookies & data in Safari.
- Go to Settings > Safari.
- Tap Clear History and Website Data and tap Clear.
- Shutdown your iPad (not just put it to sleep but actually turn it off) and turn on/power it back up.
- Open Safari and go to google.com to see if your device is now connected to Wifi.
7. You've tried ALL of the other steps. What else can you try?
- Take a screenshot of the error message you are getting.
- Email it to your Technology Facilitator. Don't forget to write a message that tells your TF what app or website you're trying to use at home.
